MAYBE SHE WAS JUST TIRED.........

The task was beyond the bounds of possibility for her. And, they tirelessly reiterated ‘MOVE ON!’
But, it is unattainable when you get used to somebody. Don’t you agree? *Do not deny facts*
Gradually, you get accustomed to them. They become a habit for you and you begin associating certain places with them, several songs never fail to remind you of the moments shared together. There’s a hell lot of associative nostalgia that keeps on accumulating at the back of your mind which every now and then escapes from your cranial cabin and successfully blurs your bright and sunny day.
At times you feel you are the happiest soul on this Earth and out of nowhere, a poor Radio Jockey plays a random track and you feel like screaming…

Please, Mr., please, don’t play B-17
It was our song, it was his song, but it’s over
Please, Mr., please, if you know what I mean
I don’t ever wanna hear that song again

Nevertheless, she was asked to ‘Move On!’ Ah! It was baffling. It was worse than the excruciating pain she felt due to his uninvited absence. Days, weeks and months went by. She made hundreds of attempts to forget him but guess what? She failed. She spent days waiting for that one call from his end, which never came. For months she waited for a single glimpse of his, which she still awaits for.

But, then, dawned a new day and she resolved, finally.

After all of these, maybe she was just tired of too many dead ends, phone calls never returned, promises that were never kept, tripping over the same stone again and again.

This time around, she had the strong conviction in her decision. She told herself, ‘This is it!’
She made up her mind to turn a blind eye to his ignorance which was never called for. She was determined to avoid every tiny thing that reminded her of him. But, what would she do to those myriad memories that simply couldn’t be washed away?

Nevertheless a complete year flew by. She indeed tried her best to keep all of his talks, ways and memories away. She knew He Was Forgotten. Yes! He Was. As life got busy, there seemed to be no time to spare over the ever present past.

After over an extremely happening year, there came a day when she found herself as idle as she had never been for months. She decided to watch Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts starrer ‘The Mexican’. Half way into the movie, she came across the dialogues,
“When You Love Somebody and Do Not Seem to Get along Together, When Do You Realize that Enough is Enough? Never! ”
It all of a sudden, crowded her mind with an assorted host of memories, which were at least five years old and had been buried for long and rendered her vision, all filmy. Yes! She agreed to it. Never can you recollect a moment when you feel ‘Enough is Enough’! A part of you, to be precise, your heart doesn't grant you the agreement even though your mind says ‘Enough is Enough!’

He had lived in her memories for all these months, silently. Though his absence hurt, irked, pained, yet he was never a stranger. And, this stays as a universal fact.

No matter what, feelings and memories never erode.
They just linger on.
Sometimes, IN FOCUS and sometimes, OUT OF FOCUS!
Doesn't it click?

BIZZARE, AFTER SO LONG!

So did I ask you for anything ?
I am sure, I didn't.
Or did I expect a bit ?
Oh! No. Never.
Then, from where does this rift arise?
Why a feeling of sad demise?

The line; too distinct; it was drawn,
The rains didn't wash away, neither did it disappear by any storm.
O October! Why be so fateful?
A want so eerie, a wish so wistful.
Oh! Do not fear thee,
Like yesterday, it will never be.
A step or two, I did walk too much,
Still I didn't let the past with my present, merge.

I cannot lie, I put forth the truth,
I waited and waited, nothing helped the wait dilute.
In front of the mirror, now I question myself,
what book of expectations did reappear on the shelf?
From where on Earth did it return?
I go solemnly blank as I try to discern.

So, what do you suggest is needed?
Another long summer, another spell of rain?
I know nothing will suffice anymore,
to demolish the wall between my heart and brain!

No entry, yes! No entry for you,
No right you possess to reduce my laughter to smiles too few.
No room, anymore empty to again let you in,
Thus, I breath a sigh of relief, without an evil grin.

Cheers! Leave Me Alone!

Was going through the Writer's Block phase and wanted to break it.
Tried my hand at versifying free verses but, alas! that's tough to do when writing serious poems after months.

Cheers! Leave Me Alone!

Cheerful applause filling up the room,
Marching towards me...grand praises galore...
So, what does one carve out of these?
A Rosy life with place only for gayety, isn't it?

Further; racing up the stairs some moments from daybreak, daily...
My curious eardrums absorb the name from voices too many.
"Why me, once again?",the inner voice desires peace of mind,
'Peace of Mind'? Shocked; Tranquility, grew old, too many fortnights.

Popular! accepted with a hint of vanity...
Flashing the universal smile, reviving the sanity.
Scribbling nonsense syllables, engulfed in deep thoughts,
Thoughts; random and ceaseless, distracting; am lost!

"You did it!" laurel comes my way,
The bare void; I know, is still there to stay.
O Victory! do not teach me to celebrate,
Am aware of my ways; let us commemorate!

Another hour brings another cheer,
Another step towards success; am near.
Yet the shadow; Yes! the shadow,
Meets no light too bright; to kindly disappear.

Brilliance! I seek not thee,
It's the endeavour, I never wish for me.
Heard you knocking for sometime now,
Stay on! do not want my guest to be waiting for long!

Silence for an hour and queries are shot like bullets,
Why should I be audible, when I indulge with my heart in word plays?
Why O why, do you need to know every bit of it?
Have I lost the right to keep certain things forever sealed?

The hour of glory, grant me an immediate repose,
Call it a change, but, do not term me morose,
why do you keep digging into my yesterdays,
Yes! that was bliss, I know: but gone are the days.

So you wish to learn the reason for the Void?
Save it for a new day or simply ask Freud.
The man knows them all, the strange games my mind plays,
Spare me, till then, as for now, taciturnity hails!

An Emotional release or an Accumulation ?

“O hateful error, melancholy's child,
Why dost thou show to the apt thoughts of men
The things that are not? O error, soon conceived,
Thou never comest unto a happy birth,
But kill'st the mother that engender'd thee!

During my schooldays, I paraphrased these lines from ‘Julius Caesar’ over and over again but I recently felt connected to these lines over some of the recent dismaying turn of events. From the play’s point of view, these lines talk about how Cassius resigns to his fate, tries to fight on but ultimately surrenders and ends his life’s journey. But the movie, ‘The Lake House’ made me connect to these lines from a drastically different point of view.

Ever noticed how we enjoy romantic comedy films on the absolutely carefree days and spend long hours watching back to back films from the drama genre specially the ones which have tragic endings. This particular behavior is not restricted to movies itself. Even our reading tastes consistently complement to our moods. Your days are sunny and you are reading Cecelia Ahern’s ‘The Gift’, Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Five Point Someone’, Sidney Sheldon’s ‘Tell Me Your Dreams’ and as soon as you are surrounded by gloomy blues, you start shifting your reading preferences towards classics like Jane Austen’s ‘Persuasion’, Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s ‘Love in the time of cholera’, Erich Segal’s ‘Love Story’, Danielle Steel’s ‘Heartbeat’ and so on and so forth. Now, the ones who stay away from books are no exceptions. Their musical tastes go hand in hand with their mood swings. From the songs of ‘Red Hot Chilli Peppers’, suddenly the playlist gets loaded with John Denver’s classic tracks.

Before I proceed with the post further, let me paraphrase these lines the way I connect to them. All our mistakes can be considered as the children of our sad thoughts. These very thoughts blind us completely and messes up with our reality in colossal ways. Ultimately, instead of relieving us from grief, it attracts more sadness and negativity into our lives.
Sounds confusing, isn’t it? Indeed it is!

Now, just think when we are feeling terribly low and depressed, why are we immediately inclined towards listening to sad songs or why do we like watching movies wherein the protagonists suffer at the end?
This reminds me of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous quote,
Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thoughts”.

Very much true! These fictional characters and sad songs make us connect to them and we feel we are not alone living with pains. For some time, we consider them as some emotional healers and term them as the perfect escape. But, in reality, these movies and books paint our lives with deeper blues during the already blue phases and thus, instead of acting as an emotional release or an outlet, ends up accumulating more and more melancholy in our hearts. So, why do we still let our thoughts be the final decision makers? Let your spirit rise. The blues will indeed make you feel low, desolated and take you away from reality but, it is in your hands to make the final verdict.

Don’t indulge in any of these forms of literature because literature is more powerful than you think it is. It can take you to cloud # 9 and in the next second instantly make you fall on ground from that height without any parachute and then, you know, where you land, right? The ultimate ‘Land of Despair’. Save yourself from the land of despair and keep yourself engaged with everything entertaining and no serious stuff and see your blues lighten and how magically your mood too brightens.

Cheers!

Comprehending Emotions !

The ladies chatter and the men murmur,
The children are into their dreamy slumber...

Everything is right in their place,
While all alone, I simply star-gaze!

Thy silent smile holds a barrel of tears,
Where shall I...Empty my fears??

Like the thunders we hear in the sorrow of the cloud...
I don't want to express myself so loud..!

Is there anybody to comprehend my emotions?
For I am left with no more confessions..!

The woods are growing old, soon they'll fall...
Me too am finding tough to stand tall!

When you slammed the door, the door behind me closed...
That was the moment all my joys left me...when I needed them the most!

Random Thoughts and nothing else !
